Part 3 ExecutionTypical preparation
- Thoroughly clean
metal roof surface area with Xylol or isopropyl alcohol where the snow guard
is to be installed.
- Contact SnoBlox
for recommendations on snow guard location and spacing.
Installation Options (choose 1 of 2 methods)
- Adhesive
Installation (Surebond SB-190)
- Spread
adhesive evenly across the waffled base of the SnoBlox by cutting the nozzle
end in a broad sideways fashion. Make sure there are no voids, which could
cause air pockets.
- Place snow
guard in position on the metal surface with the flat face pointing toward
the ridge.
- Press down on
the snow guard applying light even pressure perpendicular to the roof
- A squeeze out
of adhesive around the entire perimeter should occur. Finger wipe (using a
rubber glove) to achieve a clean smooth appearance and water
tightness.
- Mechanical
Fastening Installation
- Apply a long
life industrial or marine grade clear silicone covering the entire waffled
base.
- Place snow
guard in position and install corrosion-resistant #14 self drilling screws
with neoprene gasket washers through pilot holes in the snow guard and metal
roof sheet into a purlin or structural support.
- Screws to be
tightened to cause approximately 50% compression in neoprene gasket.
- Two screws
minimum to be installed per snow guard. Installer to determine proper length
of screws to engage purlin, allowing for insulation
